I am sure we all have a good impression with educated people. What does being educated actually mean! If you ask any one the first answer will be the person who has been to school, colleges etc. higher the educational degree higher educated that person would be. Is that really what being educated mean?
Previously, when people used to call someone as an educated, which meant that, the people has ability of analysis, was sensible and has humanity. In today’s world, this definition has changed completely. If you have money and you speak English, you are educated or for the obvious reason that you have degree to prove that. Those humanitarian and other grounds have been vanished day by day.
When I was working in Delhi, I was coming from my home town after a holiday. I hired an auto from New Delhi Railway station. It was around 11 AM in the morning in January. Winter morning in Delhi is awesome, no doubts. I was enjoying the view when auto took a left turn towards Barakhamba road and auto wala stops the auto at a Red light signal. Just after couple of seconds, I saw a sexy black Porsche 911 stops at our right hand side. I have a weakness towards car’s and bikes, so as usual I was admiring the car. It was 15 more seconds for signal to turn Green and guess what, the Porsche break the signal with a high speed. I was bit irritated with the people who do not follow the signals. Suddenly the auto driver said one sentence which kept m speechless. “wo hume anpadh kehte hai" “They call us, uneducated?” Auto driver said and he was absolutely right.
Being educated is an attitude, a character which shows a person’s sensibility, analytical thinking and humanity. We have been taught in schools, how to obey traffic rules in road, what can be happen when if we do not follow the rules. We expect this sensible analysis from an educated person. A person who never been in school can only see people following the rules but can’t really analyse what could be the consequences. What you call a person who holds a highest degree, or a person who have plenty of money breaks the traffic rule, certainly not an educated. In my opinion, that auto driver was much more educated then the person who owns a car cost between 1.27 to 3.some crore. It was just one example I gave, most of the traffic rules breaker are so called “EDUCATED” in this country.
Have you seen people in a queue, fighting to get in to the counter without having patient or people those who don’t give side for ambulances on roads? Do you really call them educated!! I won’t, a real educated person will be in queue or give a side for ambulances in roads, because that person can think, if he won’t give side for an ambulance, one person can be die, that person has a capacity to analyse things, not just behave like an illiterate.
Who to be blame, parents, who didn’t teach their kids about humanity and sensibility or the teacher who only focused in the subject and forgot to give some real education. Sadly our educational quality is being deteriorate day by day and parents never focused on these things, because according to us humanity or moral lectures in school will not give us jobs, so it’s a useless thing to spend time on. But we are forgetting that it’s an essential part of our life and made us actually a human or a real EDUCATED.
