We Indians have a very common tendency of blaming government for everything while watching news every morning & we have a common dialogue “Nothing Can happen to this country”. We have different versions of this line too, “This country will be in gutter”, “This country’s future is in black whole” etc. Is it really the government or it’s us who’s responsible?
We Indians are the most hypocrite people in the world, we crib about traffic jam every day, but did we ever bother to stick to lane driving and obey traffic rules? No…!!! We blame about corruptions every single day and blame government not to establish strict laws, but we use to be the first person to offer bribe when we caught while doing anything wrong. Did we ever protest, “I’ll not give bribe” in government offices? No…!!! We blame girls, for wearing “short and tight dresses” for provoking men to rape them; did we ever bother to ask our boys to behave properly, or try to change our mind-set? We Crib about cleanliness in streets and everything, but did we ever bother to use a dustbin? No…!!! we never, this is hypocrisy, it’s easy for us to blame others but when it’s actually in our hand we never even give a thought to make things right.
Let me give you a small example, while driving in road, did you STOP our vehicle for those who wait to cross the road, no, rather, we drive car too past, so that we don’t have to wait, but the same Indian will STOP the vehicle when he/she will be in US or UK, in a same situation, Why? I don’t know whether it’s just a mind-set of Indians or something else, but for me its hypocrisy.
We crib about other countries like US and UK for having such well organized life, when we visit there we follow the same organized life, but we never do that in our country. Country like UK and US are not organized because their government made them, but their people want their country to be like this, that’s why they are successful and organized.
We often lost between Self-centredness, show off, and so called “Cultural values”, which we don’t even have any clue about and not forget Religion. We are unable to do simple things, like to stand in a queue, to have patience. We never give way to ambulance in India, but when we have some loved one in the same ambulances, we started blaming all Indians, ignoring the fact that, we did the same thing when someone else, was in the ambulance.
When a daughter does a mistake, parents support her in every way, but when a daughter-in-law do some/same mistake, same parents torture her. We expect our daughter-in-law to be superwomen, but when the same consequence comes to own daughter, it suddenly became unethical. People often judge girls from their dresses; if a girl wears short dresses then she must be a character less or may be want attention of boys? Who gave us the rights to decide, I often wonder, how those people react to their own sister or daughter in short dresses?
We Indian’s show our patriotism only on 15th August and 26th January, we salute our national flag, but what happens the other day, as usual careless. Let me tell you a true story, in one of my organization I have worked with, there was a guy. Once I saw him once standing on a paper made national flag, near a street vendor outside of our office building. When I went to him, to let him know that he is standing on national flag, he realize that he was standing on the flag, and then he took the flag, criticize few people for throwing on the road and kept it on the side of the road and walk away. I took the flag and cleaned it and kept it my desk and saw the same person giving a speech about patriotism and criticizing people to throwing flag on the road.
I couldn’t stop myself and ask him, what he did when he found that flag on the street and he proudly said, I kept the flag on the side of the road. Let’s not go what happened further, but believe me he was proud of what he did. People like him are everywhere, who thought, patriotism is all about wearing ethnic dresses on 15th August and 26th January and give some speech about patriotism. Trust me if you ask, what’s the difference between Independence Day and Republic Day you won’t get an answer or probably you will get a weird answer.
For us calling “Bloody Indian” by a foreigner is racism but we really don’t care calling a person “Oye Bihari”. Many youngsters disturbed with why AIB was banned, but when it comes about farmers, no one really cares. We often share about “STOP CHILD LABOR” stuff in FB and twitter, but how many times we have protested in a tea stall or in a canteen when we have been served by a kid?
The Whole India protested for Nirbhaya Rape case, many people in Delhi went to India Gate to protest. Those people were also in that protest, who did see Nirbhaya laying on the road, injured, helpless & without clothes that night and didn’t stopped their vehicle!!!
It’s nothing but hypocrisy and there is only way to change this to change yourself. Behave like and educated, have the proper knowledge about your values and culture and why that was set, respect people and their feelings and be an Indian.
