We often complain a lot about life, life is unfair, life is complicated etc. Is life really complicated or it’s us who blame Life for everything. Fact is life is not complicated; life is beautiful it’s us who makes it complicated.
We human, Specially Indians often lost between, ego, culture, rituals, expectations and show-off. Every human has ego, if it’s controlled and within limits we name it self-respect. In many cases we name Ego as self-respect. Confusing!! Let me simplify. There is a very thin line difference between ego and self-respect. Ego is when everything starts from I, me and myself and self-respect is pride and confidence in oneself; a feeling that one is behaving with honor and dignity.
We see ups and downs in relationships, and sorry is a word which makes almost everything. Mostly we don’t apologies saying “why should I?” and we ended up with making thing much worse. Saying “Why should I apologies?” is ego and making things correct saying sorry in a relationship will never ruin your self-respect.
We mostly make our life complicated in the name culture. We do and force others to do illogical things in the name of culture as well. A culture is a way of life of a group of people; the behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and that are passed along by communication and imitation from one generation to the next. We do not change our way of living in the name of culture. However we never forget keep our phones, TV, and other gadgets up to date with time. Imagine you are using a Nokia 3310, a monochrome basic phone which allows you to make calls and send messages and you complain you can’t use Facebook; twitter etc. in your phone. You really can’t right, in order to use social networking applications and other thing you have to have a basic smart phone which allows you to do that. Culture is the same thing; how you lived your life will not help your kids living, you have to change with the time. But we never change ourselves and make our life complicated.
We expect a lot, we expect our kids to be the topper in exam, we expect to maintain a high quality life style, and we expect to have trouble free life. And when we don’t get that we started getting frustrated and blame life for everything. We never appreciate what we have and neither we values relationships. You have a house, food to eat, life to live, car to travel, job to do and we never thank God for that, we rather expect more and more. Imagine you expect to have 3% increment in your next appraisal, but when you see the increment letter, the percentage in double digit, your happiness will be unimaginable. in the same place if you expect have a 15% hike and you get only 10% you would be disappointed, sad and frustrated. This phenomena has been observed by many great people, when you expect less from life, life always gives you more.
Three Facts of Life, “The first to apologies is the bravest, the first to forgive is the strongest, the first to forget is the happiest”
Watch this video and try to think whether your life is actually complicated?
"Team took a group of healthy people in the street and sat next to young people with cancer and their families, they could not see each other. They ask the same questions. What makes you happy? If you could have one wish what would? The difference in responses is not lost anyone. (A project in collaboration with the Association of adolescents and young adults with cancer)"
